DOT LIGHT: Italian Design for everyday use!

This week, I came across one of the most creative LED lights in a long time. Currently in the funding process, the DOT LIGHT by Imagination Farm combines a USB charger, iPhone Dock Station, picture and pen holder and best of all, it doesn't take a lot of place on your night table or office desk. With unlimited uses, the DOT LIGHT is the ideal product because it gives users exactly what the Apple iPhone dock should have: easy use, great aesthetics and most importantly, lack of clutter.

This USB charging dock is compatible for charging with all current models of iPhones, and can be used for charging iPod Touch as well. It comes with a "foldable" stand to keep your iPhone safe while charging. It’s also perfect for holding your iPhone at the perfect angle when you are composing emails or notes while using a Bluetooth keyboard, or when watching your favorite videos.

The DOT LIGHT is made of 3 single magnetic pieces, giving it a sleek look that goes with all of Apple’s equally-sleek products. The dock is substantial in weight and has tacky pads on the bottom, with a low-friction connector that charges your phone but allows you to remove the phone at any time without much effort. You no longer need to hold the dock down while you pull your phone out with the DOT LIGHT. 

The dock was also designed to work with iPhones with cases or without cases, which seems to be a near-constant failure with most docking products designed for the iPhone. The dock tilts your phone back at an angle, making it perfect for FaceTime calling or as a bedside alarm clock station. 

This Italian made lamp comes in three different versions: The simple lamp, the USB charged version, and the docking station version. A wooden collection is also available.

Exomount Tablet HRM : Bye Bye Minivans Entertainment Units!

A lot of iPad car mounts follow one of two styles. Either it is a case or it clamps onto the headrest bars. The Exomount Tablet HRM by ExoGear uses a design that uses clamps but in a completely new way.

The viewing angles are pretty good. The platform rests on a jointed arm so you can extend it from the headrest so the person sitting in the backseat can easily interact with the device and not just passively watch. It can be rotated and tilted, but what we really wanted to see was a better option to lock it in place so it doesn't move with every bump in the road. You can lock the arm in place, but it might not stay there long.

This product is compatible with a long list of different media devices, from a small tablet to a medium-size laptop. Although it's nice to have a product that works with so many devices, the extra plastic parts needed for this advanced compatibility take up a lot of room. If you want the ability to mount multiple devices in your backseat and you have room to spare, this device might be just what you want. If you just want a way to mount your iPod, there are less bulky options.

In addition to support for multiple sizes, we really enjoy the fact that this rotates to accommodate landscape or portrait modes.  What’s more, the 360-degree rotation makes it a breeze to flip from reading a book in one direction to playing a game in the other.  Ready to remove the tablet?  Push the button on the left and the arms loosen up – away you go.

How does mount this in the car?  Oh, that’s easy. Simply lift up your headrest a bit, wrap this around the bars and lock it down.  If the description sounds a little weird or all-too-easy it’s because of how little effort is really required.

The GloBag : The last Gym Bag you would ever need.

Sometimes the best way to put some fire in your fitness routine is to get some new gear. If you're in the market for a gym bag, You might find one with the right amount of pockets, but the zippers don’t work. You might find one the perfect size, but the fabric rips. Check out the GloBag ($89). It has a compartment for just about everything. 

I love that your sneakers fit snug in the bottom-side compartment, and there's still room inside the bag to fit a towel, change of clothes, and another pair of shoes. There are also inside pockets to hold a water bottle, undies, and other small items. 
Even just looking at photographs, I had a sense this bag was different. Since I've had one to try out for real, it has quickly become my favorite gym bag in a long time.

First a quick rundown of the basic features of the GloBag bag:

The size of the bag is great. It is neither too big nor too small. I feel as if I could fit everything I need in here, but also not feel like I’m hauling around a giant pack or be unable to use public transportation. The canvas feels thick and, unlike other wimpy bags I’ve had in the past, I think I’d be hard-pressed to put any rips in this fabric.

This bag also has numerous pouches and compartments. Things I liked were the different sizes of the pouches and the different methods for enclosing them – some are zippered, some have big strips of Velcro, some are canvas, and some are open mesh. I feel pretty confident that whatever you put in your gym bag, the Globag has a place to put it. 

The shoe compartment is a particularly nice addition. If you do a variety of training, you no doubt also have a variety of shoes. This bag makes it easy to carry shoes, or whatever else you might have in separate compartments for keeping the rest of your stuff clean and shoe-stink free. If you’ve got wet clothing items or towels, the shoe compartments can also serve as a way to keep those items separate. There are also eyelets on these compartments so the stinky air can work its way out. Nobody likes that moment when you open up a tightly sealed gym bag. Nobody.

The GloBag comes in solid Black, Black and Silver, Black and Gold, Pink and Lime and retails for $89.95. The bag I received is Black with Gold and I quite like it. And given how much money I’ve wasted on bad bags over the years, I think the price point is not bad. It might be more than you would pay for the average gym bag, but it is my conclusion this is not the average gym bag. And while I intend to treat this bag nicely and use it frequently, I think I could do very bad things to it and it would survive a long time.

SIMPLcase for iPhone 5/5s : The perfect case for travellers.

International travelers have long dealt with the hassle of changing networks as they traverse the globe. One could be for work, assigned by the compagny we work for, and the other for our personal use, to keep track of family and friends. It’s a bit of a hassle to be carrying two phones around. 

Having separate phones, changing out SIM cards, or using some of the rare dual-SIM phones are all options. Now a sleek new iPhone case is in the works that could allow travelers to easily switch between SIMs and keep using their iPhone 5/5s seamlessly!
